Nick approached us to help him get his MTB back on the trails with some custom alloy wheels. Many years ago, he sustained a serious injury, and had put his bike away. Five years later he asked us to put some new wheels together – that would suit his aesthetic, and his budget.
We sourced some quality Japanese Tioga rims at a great price, and matched these to our own XLR8 hubs (QR15 front and 10 speed 135mm rear). These hubs are bombproof – they have a hub body that is designed for downhill abuse, and a double sealed 6 pawl freehub. Nick will roll on these wheels for many years to come.
Naturally, we selected Sapim Race double butted spokes front and rear, coupled with brass nipples for reliability. The white stripe on the rims looks great! Even better when matched with the prominent white decals on his Intense 5.5!
