Jacob sought advice regarding an issue he had with his top of the range factory built wheelset – they just weren’t stiff enough. He noticed the rear wheel was flexing and robbing him of power.
We worked closely with him to determine the right specs for a wheelset that would suit his priorities – stiff, reliable and tubeless (oh, and blue!).
The new HED Belgium Plus 25mm wide rim was selected due to the beautiful finish, excellent weight, and great ride. The wider rim profile means using a 23 or 25c tyre will result in superior cornering traction, and a more supple ride.
Naturally, the White Industries T11 hubset was selected for their light weight, beautiful anodised blue finish, and excellent reliability. Additionally, they are easily serviceable using standard workshop tools, and should see life in several wheelsets. These hubs are a great long term investment.
In order to ensure an appropriate stiffness to weight compromise, custom length Sapim Race Black spokes were used, along with blue alloy nipples (to add a little bling, and save some grams where it really counts – at the rim).
