A mate of Colin's (Joe, actually) suggested he talk to us about some new wheels to replace some Fulcrums he'd started to wear out. Colin's Fulcrums were starting to break spokes after about 15,000km. Not great mileage, but about what you would expect. Colin needed some wheels for an upcoming trip to climb the Cols of Europe, and reliability and weight (and some added aero) were important. Kwesi was piecing together his ultimate road bike - a Wilier Cento 10NDR. Another customer recommended he seek our advice. He needed some light and aero disc road wheels, that would be stiff and super reliable (he's a big guy). Graham called us up and described his new fascination with riding gravel. We concur, it's awesome to get out on the "Strade Bianche" (Italian for "White Road") - less traffic, more challenge! Adam needed an economy replacement hub for his Carbonal wheelset, following some bad luck with his old Tune hub. He was on a budget, and needed a hub that was inexpensive, light and reliable. The XLR8 MD series of road hubs is just that. They are made in Taiwan. We specify the hubs composition. So whilst they may look familiar to some, we determine the bearings, axle type (hint - a stronger alloy) and freehub construction to ensure the best value/quality compromise.
