Mike specifically wanted an alloy rim build, with Project 321 hubs for his Norco. After some discussion he selected the new Spank Oozy Trail 350 Vibrocore rims. Vibrocore is a biodegradable foam Spank injects into the rim. It reduces vibrations and Trail " noise". And it works! Spank states that “the low density, pressurised core performs a similar function to the soft tissue inside bones, increasing inner wall strength and absorbing vibrations.” It is also available as an option in their range of handlebars as well. David needed a tricky new wheelset for his Pivot 459. It uses a SuperBoost rear axle setup, so Project 321 hubs were the logical choice. We passed Dave at speed on the local trails. He called out and we caught up briefly - he needed a new rear wheel. He wanted a wider rim to hold the tyre sidewalls better, for more cush and grip. The Spank Oozy Trail 295 is the current alloy rim of choice - nicely finished, 25mm wide internal, 30mm external, and well priced. We rebuilt his Giant hub onto one of these using Sapim Race double butted spokes and brass nipples, for a high performance economy solution.
