Andy's Yeti SB5.5 needed a new wheelset. The spec wheelset was proving to be a little underwhelming, and Andy wanted more width, and lower weight. Better hub reliability and longevity would be a bonus if possible.
We discussed all aspects of the built with him - including his weight, riding style, trails ridden and potential tyre choices. Just part of the extensive process we can go through to ensure our customers get the best wheels for their needs and aspirations.
Following this, we had a few calls to discuss the options regarding hubs and rims. Both White Industries XMR Boost and Project321 hubs would work in this application, but Andy preferred the available yellow in Project 321, and the tuneable freehub sound. That, and they are a super bling solution as well.
For rims, both the Nextie Asymmetric and the Nextie Premium rims were discussed. Premiums are lighter, and come with a slightly longer warranty, so Andy went that way. The Classic Asymmetric rims contain a slightly lower modulus carbon, and only a 2 year warranty, but in our experience, they are still a great rim for many riders.
Of course, Sapim Race spokes were custom cut to perfect length for this build, and laced up in a standard 3x pattern using Black brass nipples.
