Richard is another repeat customer, and after a couple of sets of wheels, we are now working through all his old wheelsets, bring them back up to spec.
He had bought an ITM Pathom2 carbon wheelset, and his LBS (local bike shop) had a go at installing a new 11s hub. Richard has never been happy with the outcome. The spoke tension was very uneven, spokes from different manufacturers (and of different gauges AND lengths) had been used, old alloy nipples had been re-used, and the occasional new nipple was a completely wrong dimension.
The wheel had not been reliable as a result.
We rebuilt the wheel for Richard, using custom cut plain gauge Sapim spokes (and ensuring the original lacing pattern could be repeated to assist reliability), and wheel stiffness increased. Top quality Pillar nylock internal nipples ensure they will not loosen over time, nor corrode in adverse conditions.
