Shaun's Industry9 Torch hub ons FliteX 30mm rims
27.5" All Mountain Carbon Enduro Sapim Wheel Builds
After building a couple of sets of carbon hoops for Shaun, he came back with a pair of hubs for his downhill bike, and asked to build him a new SuperBoost wheelset. Again he selected the WheelTec FliteX rims - they are super tough, and priced very reasonably. Being a DH wheelset, we laced these up with plain gauge Sapim leader spokes to ensure ultimate lateral stiffness and strength. Shaun's feedback has been stellar. He loves them.
Shaun's Industry9 on FliteX 35mm Carbon 29er
29er All Mountain Carbon Sapim Wheel Builds
Shaun wanted a tough all round set of carbon hoops for his new 29er. He was really happy with the White Industries XMR hubs we used on his previous pair, but wanted to try something different this time. Industry 9 have a new hub offering that he was keen to try. The Hydra freehub has 690 points of engagement, meaning instant engagement. An like all I9 products, the quality is excellent. We laced these beautiful hubs into a set of 35mm wide Wheeltec FliteX rims with 32 Sapim Race black spokes and brass nipples. A super tough and very bling solution. ...
Chris's eThirteen (e13) Alloy Wheel Rebuild
27.5" Enduro Sapim Wheel Repairs
Chris was having trouble with his eThirteen wheels. He was breaking spokes constantly, and was just not confident that they would be up to the task for an upcoming MTB holiday. We disassembled the wheel and replaced all of the basic quality super light spokes with thicker and stiffer Sapim leader spokes, brass nipples and new tubeless tape. We sent him on his way. Within a week or so he called back with his front wheel. He was so impressed with the improved ride quality of the rebuilt rear, that he asked us to do the front!
Darryn's SuperBoost Spank 350 wheelset
Project321 Sapim Spank Wheel Builds
Darryn gave us a call seeking some SuperBoost hubs and a build designed to be robust and reliable for riding on Sydney's Northern Beaches trails - rocky with plenty of climbing. So we needed to ensure they were not too heavy as well. The SuperBoost rear-axle standard isn’t totally new – hubs with 157x12mm axle spacing have existed on DH bikes for years. However, the majority of those hubs used the same hub flange spacing as old 135×10mm quick-release hubs (and 142x12mm thru-axle hubs). New SuperBoost hubs have the same DH 157mm axle spacing but have hub flanges that are even wider than 148x12mm...
Matt's Carbon-Ti and Tailwind All-Road Beauties
Aero Carbon Carbon-Ti Cyclocross Gravel Sapim
Matt had decided that one road/gravel bike was needed to replace multiple big wheeled bikes he owned. He was planning to ride this new OPEN Upper for a long time, and approached us to discuss an absolutely "no compromises" build. Specifically - light, strong, fast and able to manage up to a 44c tyre (and also back down to a 28c for the occasional bunch ride). As we often do, we met face to face and discussed the options, starting with hubs. DT Swiss and White Industries nearly made the cut, Project 321 almost got there too, but in the end, Matt just...
