Robbie used us recently to rebuild his MTB wheels, and he liked them so much he immediately asked us to build some road wheels. He handed over a new XTR hub that he'd been given, and asked us to use it for the front wheel.
We matched the beautiful hub with an equally gorgeous White Industries T11 in polished silver. A tough, light and strong solution that matches the XTR well.
The XTR hub was 32h, and in order to save weight we used Ritchey Logic Competition super light spokes (laced 2x) and Sapim alloy nipples.
On the rear, to ensure stiffness we used Sapim Race double butted spokes, and again alloy nipples. This wheel is laced 3x.
Our "go to" road rim remains the Hplusson Archetype. In this case in satin black with white decals.
The outcome is a stiff and strong 1655g wheelset that can (and will) see abuse, but will be reliable for many years to come.
