Nigel is another repeat customer. We’ve helped him out a bit, and we share a love of vintage Eddy Merckx steel frames.
Nigel’s latest acquisition is a lovely near new Merckx MX Leader (MXL) made from the highly revered Columbus MAX Nivocrom steel tubeset. MAX is multishape and oversize, and is known for being very stiff – as far as power transfer and precision – but still quite comfortable, if well specced with supporting hoops.
In order to ensure Nigel’s MXL is stiff but still comfy for the long haul, the obvious choice was a pair of Hplusson Archetype rims in polished silver. Especially so when paired with gorgeous Campagnolo Records hubs.
A premium build like this deserves nothing less than Sapim Race double butted spokes and brass nipples.
