Glenn’s Miche Primato on Ambrosio Excellence

Classic Wheel Builds

Image of Miche Primato hubs.Glenn is a bigger guy, who appreciates reliability and stiffness in his wheels.

He became aware of some classic Ambrosio Excellence rims that we had in stock. They had been delaced from a wheelset, but had less than 500km of use.

We built these up on Italian made (yes, really made in Italy!) Miche Primato hubs, with Sapim Race double butted spokes on the front and non-driveside rear. On the driveside we used Sapim plain guage spokes, to ensure the best stiffness for the rear wheel.

Miche Primato’s are a great mid range hub, coming in around 400g a set, with good reliability, and great looks.

The wheelset came in around 1900g – a great outcome for super stiffness, high durability, and a price far less than you would expect for a hand built wheelset.

If you are a bigger and stronger guy, for whom wheel stiffness and reliablility has been an issue in the past (or who doesn’t want it to be an issu  e in the future!) – get in contact.

XLR8 can help spec the right wheels for you.
