Dean’s a former UCI World Downhill Champion. He knows how important a good set of hoops is – for acceleration, big hits, and ensuring you get the bottom, first.
His goal was a smart set of light carbon hoops for his new AM rig, that wouldn’t hold him back on the climbs, be easy and light to fly with, and take the inevitable beating.
He selected the Tune Kong rear hub for it’s awesome light weight, and great support here in Oz, should anything go wrong.
A Hope Pro2 EVO was selected for the front – strong, light and inexpensive, Dean can have all three!
Mated to some new prototype carbon rims (30mm wide and 650b) with DT Champion spokes and alloy nipples (and a few secret XLR8 tricks), the entire wheelset weights in a 1538g. It’s all mountain tough, at XC weight.
