Jim had heard about our XLR8 Rouleur rims on a local bicycle forum, and could not pass up the value they offer. They are a 24mm wide rim, nicely finished, light weight, and at a great price. He’s a bigger guy, and has had issues with several light weight wheelsets in the past – hubs breaking, detensioning, and cracked rims.
As a result, a classic 32h build was selected, using Sapim double butted Race spokes and brass nipples. This results in a very stiff and strong wheelset, with only minor compromises in weight and aerodynamics. It’s a very similar build to some cyclocross wheelsets we have build lately, so they reliability is well proven.
XLR8 Rouleur rims are available in 28 hole and 32 hole drillings, in black anodised with a machined sidewall.
